Fellows Program.

The Earth Codes Observatory believes many of the best ideas for the discovery of Earth’s regenerative codes, stewarding the data to the AI toolmakers and co-creation of creative artistic assets (e.g. public art installations, movies, VR, games, immersive art, etc) will come from a wide circle of “thinkers” who are as obsessed about a regenerative future for their children as we are::

  • Artists

  • Futurists

  • Technologists

  • Ecologists

  • Coders

  • Physicians

  • Teachers

  • VR/AR developers

  • Indigenous leaders

  • Animal behaviorists

  • Peacemakers

  • Biologists

  • Documentarians

  • industrial Designers

  • Policy Makers

  • City Planners

  • Architects

  • Immersive theatre producers

  • Story Tellers

  • Sociologists

  • Psychologists

  • Many more fields…!!

Each person above is a leader in his/her/their field. They love to discover, discuss, share and offer ideas. They are all united in the Earth Codes Observatory vision:

“…of a future world where it will be second nature to consult the collective knowledge of other species, other cultures, global resource sensors and future scenarios, all through the interaction of humans with artificial intelligence — the result will be a planet where species, cultures and resources are regenerative and in balance.”

The vision is of a biocentric world, rather than an anthropocentric one, that will be viable and regenerative for all species.

The complexity of technology, nature and the myriad of possible futures the creative teams will develop over time is mathematically mind-blowing. What will ground the programming of Earth Codes is the mission and how supporting structures can be in place to set research and content priorities on a rolling basis, hopefully long after we are gone. We are taking the long-term approach like our friends at The Long Now Foundation. The Fellows Program is a key strategy for this goal.

Main parameters of the Fellowship Program include:

  • Fellows meet each other once a month or quarterly virtually to share their research/experience with each other, staff leaders and board.

  • Fellows make recommendations for the Earth Codes programming and have an opportunity to shape program-related areas and therefore the organization itself.

  • Grants applications and fundraising efforts will include any fellow who wants to be part of the future programming that has been voted upon by the fellows and board.

  • Fellows will be featured on an Earth Codes podcast once per year.

  • Fellows may be paired with a university post-grad in their same field to mentor and to whom one day they will pass the baton.

“The most difficult transition to make is from an anthropocentric to a biocentric norm of progress. If there is to be any true progress, then the entire life community must progress. Any progress of the human at the expense of the larger life community must ultimately lead to a diminishment of human life itself.”

Thomas Berry, “Bioregions: The Context for Reinhabiting the Earth,” in The Dream of the Earth, 165).
