We are living in a time when AI systems are being trained faster than we are safeguarding ecological knowledge. So, how can we reverse this?
Challenge #1:The majority of ecological knowledge that could help heal our planet and keep it regenerative is locked away in inaccessible or unpublished formats. AI systems are currently being trained without this critical intelligence.
Challenge #2: Indigenous communities who hold millennia of knowledge about life, relationships and stewardships, are excluded from shaping AI datasets. Their data is often extracted without consent or their voices are missing, and data sovereignty rights are not recognized.
