Theatre and Lecture Space.

Thousands of medical students, professors and researchers have studied and contributed to the field within this room.

We have retained the original features from 1912 while adding certain conveniences like more electricity, broadband connectivity and audiovisual tools to aid audiences and speakers.

In 2020 we will experiment with immersive theatre exploring the building’s roots in biology, riffing off our fascination with the body: gender, aging, sexuality, immortality/mortality and gene manipulation.

This will also be the location for book signings, lectures, meeting directors and producers of media shown at the Earth Codes Observatory. It will also be the central meeting place for Fellows to exchange ideas and plan programming for the Earth Codes Observatory.

The former reading hall for students – This room is being remade as a theatre and lecture space. Light streams through the north, west and south windows, illuminating the gold-leafed ceiling and murals on the eastern wall.
